Aloes vera with red things

I have a mystery: I have an Aloes vera plant growing in water instead of soil and it is going quite well, but I have noticed a couple of red bubble-like 'things' growing in one of the sides. I have attached a pic, I cannot find any info anywhere.
Can anyone tell me what is 'that'?
Thank you

I would venture to suggest that it might be the tiny beginnings of a flower stalk.

But I could be completely wrong.🙂

I thought aloe flower stems came from the centre of the crown ...

You may be right, Dove. I was perhaps being optimistic.🙂

  • I have had Aloes for many years, but this one was the first to grow in water. I hadn't noticed until I added more water!
