Teddy Bear Magnolia

Can anyone advise me re Teddy Bear Magnolia.  The leaves have blackened, however stems are still green.  I surmise it may be heat related, but am unsure.  Has this happened to anyone else, any remedies, and did the plant recover?  Many thanks.

Where is your garden. Magnolias are generally heat tolerant
  • Thank you for your response.  I am in south west Western Australia.  Temps peaked around 35deg C, for a couple of days.  Seemed to happen after that.  I know more established trees in area don't suffer.  Perhaps as mine is juvenile it was affected.  I see from earlier post from a lady in 2018 she had similar problems.

Mine tolerate much higher temps than that without damage.  Do you keep them watered when it's hot?  Do they have mulch around the base?
  • Yes, well watered and mulched.  Good food and soil, (on the acidic side).  No disease that I can discern.  I also have a Little Gem which is fine, but a year older.

Do you have a picture of the problem?
  • Not at present but if you use search on this site Teddy Bear Magnolia, it should take you to comment from Em(something or other).  She has photo of hers, which look like mine.  Hope that helps.  I shall endeavour to send a photo to you later.  I wonder whether hers came back as it has been 2 years since she posted.  I sincerely thank you for your interest.

I wonder if they recovered 🤔

I can’t think of any other advice to offer, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞
