Heuchera problem

I have three Heucheras ('Marmalade' I think) growing together in the garden . They have, over a couple of months, developed dark red spots/blotches on their leaves and so I have dug them up, cut them back, put in pots and tucked them away in my plant 'hospital' at the back of the shed. I think it is a virus infection but want to sure. I would like to replace them with more Heucheras in the same spot. Is this safe do you think? Many thanks,

Could you please post a photo of your heuchera foliage?

  • I have Heuchera Marmalade in my garden. They can, at this time of the year, look quite shabby in appearance with dead foliage and some rust spots. I would just clean up the plant by removing any infected or dead foliage. Mine normally bounce back with fresh new growth with out any signs of problems
Just remember that normally any light coloured leafed Heuchera such as Marmalade prefer shade as opposed to full sun. Also they occasionally need replanting as the top growth can become lose from the base of the plant, so replanting deeper will remedy this
