Hi fellow gardeners, I have tree ferns (I live in Tasmania and am wondering if I can safely use the dried out fronds as mulch on my veggie garden. Thanks!
Hi @lilwaud and welcome 😊 I have rellies in Tas so a special wave to you. Hope the fire situation soon settled down.
I can’t think of any reason why you shouldn’t use the fronds as a much. I would probably shred them first or chop them with a rotary mower to speed up the decomposition process.
In this garden I would add them to the compost heap and then mulch with the made compost, but I can’t see why you shouldn’t use them straight away.
