    @jamesholt - I think your shrub with the red berries is probably Nandina domestica.  If so, it's not native - it's from Asia, I think.  Very pretty.
    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Thank you I wonder how it ended up where it is out in the woods?  I guess the birds eat the seeds and populate the plant in new areas?

    The internet says you can propagate Nandina from seed, so I guess you're right and it got "sown" in bird poo.   :)

    The Telegraph's coverage is good for just two things, I find - gardening and travel.
