Scented winter flowering shrubs

My bush of Lonicers fragrantissima, winter flowering honeysuckle, non climbing, is in full flower and a walk past takes me into a pool of scent. This is the first year my 3 camelias soulangei have flowered so well and had a faint perfume, the weather perhaps? The witchazel buds are ready to pop open to release their scent, primroses brought indoors smell delicious, the Christmas Box is almost overpowering. The flowers of these plants may be rather insignificant but their perfume more than makes up for lack of glamour. Sadly the winter flowering clematis has no smell but the flowers are lovely at this time of the year, along with the coum cyclamen
Here's to winter flowering plants.

Hear hear Joyce. It really lifts the spirit doesn’t it? Probably more precious because (in my experience at least) the weather has to be just so. A sunny, mild day with little breeze in the depths of winter. Add the first al fresco coffee and it is heavenly.

My Sarcococca is in flower but it's been too windy to smell it yet...

My sarcococca in the front garden smells wonderful ... like warm honey... every time I step out of the front door ❤️

  • My Daphne Perfume Princess started flowering - the scent is amazing. It grows in a pot next to the door and every time I open the door I can smell it without even sticking my nose close to the plant 😊
