Plant Identification Help

Hi all,

im new to gardening and have recently bought a new house which has an established (and overgrown) hedge. In order to trim it back without damaging it, I’d like to understand what it is. I’ve tried over the weekend to Identify it, but it could be anything from sage to dogwood... your help would be hugely appreciated! It has small yellow flowers on it if that helps.

cheers alison

Used to be called Senecio greyi. I was glad to get rid of it in my garden a few years ago. Uninteresting flowers, grows very leggy, etc.

  • I agree with Papi Jo.  Probably the main attraction with this plant is the whitish hair-like covering of the leaves.  Can be useful at times in a mixed shrub border, but an eye needs to be kept on it.
