Coleus

Just seen this on FB , is it a real colour or photoshopped.  Also if real is it house plant or outside summer plant?
love the colour. I had red ones this year, a lovely pop of colour in the beds.🙂

I thought they were bogus myself but be cool if they are legit.
  • I think those colours have been ‘enhanced’ ... there are coleus with string blue/purple markings but not, to the best of my knowledge, quite that ‘vibrant’.

The seeds for these will be advertised  from some fake company in China.
They are colourful but not like that.

  • I was suspicious as this year there was the two tone green, yellow/green,  and what I had green/red . They do make lovely foliage plants.

Yeah I think they are really nice plants, they are the first plant I purchased from a school jumble sale in the 80s as a kid.  Slugs snails enjoy them too unfortunately 😏

    “... string...” 🤯
flippin’ autocorrect ..... should be ‘striking’ 🙄

given the purple tones of the wooden bench, I'd say fake.
    Devon.
  • 👌👍
  • I agree with @Hostafan1 so have tried to reset the colour balance and have 'unenhanced' the photo ;)  I expect it would look more like this:
but still a good streak of purple.

I would avoid seeds from China. Plenty of fancy coleus seeds in the UK.
