Apple Tree Pruning Help Please

Our new home has a lovely apple tree in the garden however the branches seem very crowded and I’d really appreciate advice on which ones need to be pruned off.
It suffered from Apple Scab this year so I’ve cleaned up all the old leaves and I’m hoping to get a better harvest next year. 

Any advice greatly appreciated ☺️

For one thing it won't like the grass so close to the trunk, it also makes feeding it difficult.  What is the powder around the trunk? It's the wrong time now to be cutting back wait till spring.

Yes I plan to cut out a lot of the grass around it and add some composted manure just before spring. 

Just some fallen bird food that needs cleaning up 😅
