Scabious care

I have received 4  healthy scabious plants, earlier than expected. Do I plant them outside or do they have to go in a darkened area until the spring?I have a small greenhouse or shed if that is suitable.

    what size are they?
They won't need a dark place but if they're tiny they may need some protection through the winter. An unheated greenhouse would be fine for this
  • They are filling 10cm pots, no roots coming through yet though.
I have a Poly greenhouse as only a town garden so perhaps that would be ok. Thank you for advice.

That will do just fine, I’ve got those little plastic greenhouses, ok as long as it’s fixed well.💨🌬🙂
I wouldn’t pot them on until about March, then plant out in May.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  •  It is firmly  fixed. Thank you

I'd agree - they just need a wee bit of protection from the worst weather.
I barely do even that with hardy plants- I tuck them against a wall, or among shrubs etc. The harder they're grown, the stronger they are when planted out  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
