I have received 4 healthy scabious plants, earlier than expected. Do I plant them outside or do they have to go in a darkened area until the spring?I have a small greenhouse or shed if that is suitable.
what size are they? They won't need a dark place but if they're tiny they may need some protection through the winter. An unheated greenhouse would be fine for this
They are filling 10cm pots, no roots coming through yet though. I have a Poly greenhouse as only a town garden so perhaps that would be ok. Thank you for advice.
That will do just fine, I’ve got those little plastic greenhouses, ok as long as it’s fixed well.💨🌬🙂 I wouldn’t pot them on until about March, then plant out in May.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I'd agree - they just need a wee bit of protection from the worst weather. I barely do even that with hardy plants- I tuck them against a wall, or among shrubs etc. The harder they're grown, the stronger they are when planted out
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
