Mystery plant

Hi all. Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It was in my garden when we moved into the house? It is beautiful in the summer and now has berries. It has soft leaves.

Well perhaps how to care for it and prune it  if you are offering.  It has taken a beating over the summer with insect and snail/slug damage

They’re pretty tough so don’t worry about it too much, and they’re great ‘cos bees love the flowers and birds love the berries.

If you want to rejuvenate it a bit I would cut out the oldest stems right at the base ... you can take up to a third of the total number of stems. I would do it in
March and then I’d give it a handful of Fish, Blood &
Bone which is a slow acting organic fertiliser.  That’ll be enough for it.
    😊
