Please identify this weed!

These are springing up everywhere! Any ideas what they are and how to get rid of please? Don’t seem to have a root. Over 50 just sprung up!

    looks a bit like a germinating beech tree, but a bit too early to say for sure.

    When you say they don't have a root, are they growing from a single root which is underground, or something similar?
    I can't see the pix clearly enough to amke aguess - too blurry, but perhaps someone else will have an idea  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Did you grow Morning Glories this summer?  They look very like self-sown morning glory seedlings. The coming cold winter  weather will kill them off.

  • yes there was a morning glory nearby which died and was removed that is 100% it!!!!! Thanks so much everyone

    The seed leaves are quite distinctive. 
    The ones that have germinated will die off over winter but you may be lucky and get done more germinate late next spring ... pop in a trellis or wigwam and off you go again ... and for free 😊
