I rarely have many snails in my garden but I've noticed a lot of very small snails, they're very tiny. Are they babies and can I expect a snail population boom or are they a different variety?

A baby snail will generally only have a couple of whorls making up the shell. As they grow to adulthood they add more whorls so if you look closely at the snail you should be able to get an idea of its age. Remember that not all snails are bad for the garden and most species are busy helping you out by breaking down detritus and removing algae etc.
