I have a lovely apple tree in my garden which is very healthy, except every year the ants come along and every apple is bad inside. I've tried the sticky tape that can be put around the trunk, but after a while the ants still get on. I have also made sure that the leaves don't touch any other foliage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the board @sjdixon71 😊

The ants aren’t damaging your apples ... they’re after the honeydew secreted by the aphids which are on most of our apple trees in the spring and summer.

If you can tell us more about what is wrong with your apples ... photos of the inside and outside of the fruit, and of any leaf damage is usually a clue ... hopefully someone will have some suggestions.

  • Thanks I didn't know that, all of my apples went into the composter as they were all brown around the core inside
