Magnolia leaves - looking for advice

We recently purchased a magnolia and have potted on whilst deciding to know exactly where it will get planted as currently doing some work in the garden. It is in a gritted mix oh JI No3 and a little bit of ericaceous compost. It already had some brown marks on the leaves but was told it is just wind burn. New leaves have since come through and doing the same, so now not sure if it has a disease. Any knowledge welcome and thanks for reading. Oh, currently sitting in a south west position.
