I planted some small bare root bux plants around a grass verge a couple of years ago but some are losing all the leaves & some doing well - help?

If you could post a photo of the plants, it would help with identifying the problem.

Yes, photos would help @res. Do you have any dogs or cats? Are the affected plants in sunshine or shade?

Lots of unleashed dog walkers pass and lots of leaves fall too.

Sadly it isn't possible to tell what the problem is from that photo as there are no close ups of the damaged plants but box blight is always something to bear in mind. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=96 This should enable you to decide if that is the case with your plants.

Where is the grass! If it's dried out that much, it doesn't bode well for the box. They need moisture, and it doesn't look like they're getting much. Dry shade isn't great for box.
I'm assuming it is your verge to plant on? Dogs peeing on it certainly won't help either.  :/
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Agree with FG, it looks very dry, and it's planted at the edge of what looks like a steep bare stony slope. I think the plants have done very well considering.
