Black Bird Box

Evening fellow green fingers.

I wan wondering if anyone has any measurements etc for a black bird box?

A very nice person did give me the measurements etc on a previous thread, however I can not find them. I have searched on the internet with not much joy.

Any help much appreciated.

We have a large garden will loads of birds boxes spread about, that all inhabited from robins to Owls, Just wondering apart from hedges etc if there was a box for blackbirds that they could move into

Blackbirds won't nest in a box at all, like most birds. You can put small platforms in a hedge or similar bushy area but in my experience they won't use them. I have seen them nest in a ladder which was mounted on a wall. Mistle Thrushes like that set up to. Also once a pair nested in an old cast iron hopper from a Victorian guttering system.

Never seen a blackbird use a nest box. 

Ours usually choose the cotoneaster horizontalis bush that grows up the kitchen wall. Conveniently close to the catflap and only three feet off the ground. 

They never learn. 🙄

We have one that nests in the bay tree, again only 3’ from the ground. I don’t think they are birds that will use a box.  Blue tits will though if you want to study those.
