Please help

Hi all...please can anyone help...I inherited these hydrangeas from my late father in law and have kept them lovely all summer, but I went on holiday and came back to this ( see pictures) I don’t know what to do with them...any help appreciated...Tracey.

  • If possible, I'd suggest you plant them in the ground. They would appear to be very congested in the present pots.
If containers are your only option, they will require something much larger - the next few weeks would be the ideal time to sort them out whichever way you decide to go.

I agree, they would be happier in the ground. They are struggling unfortunately.
As Philippa says, failing that, much larger pots are the way to go  :)

Did anyone water them while you were on holiday? On the bright side they are still alive and as others say will be happier in the ground.
  • My father in law had them for many years in these pots and cut them back every year....can’t believe I’ve ruined them..
  • You may have "ruined " them temporarily but they are still alive so all is not lost :)
