Dug this larvae up I've looked it up and it looks like a stag beetle but there so many similar. Help please Taffy.

I'd be more inclined to say chafer grub of some kind.
Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people

Sorry for delay in replying, yes you are probably right about chafer . it's just strange it's the first time I've seen one in 17 years in the same garden. Thanks very much Taffy.
