Hello, would a heliopsis grow well in a pot on a sunny patio if well watered or would it be better off in a sunny border? I’ve got a lovely variety called burning hearts which is perfect for my patio
I have a big patch of heliopsis Summer Nights which are planted in my garden and give a fantastic display throughout summer until the cold weather and frost arrives. They get to nearly 6ft and look great with the stipa gigantea and Verbena bonariensis I grow in the same area. I think they'd prefer to be in the ground as mine have grown into substantial plants with a big root system over the 3 years since I sowed the seed, but no reason why you shouldn't try them in a pot, but I think they'll need to go in the ground when they get too big and will need a big pot with good soil (John Innes with extra grit) and lots of watering in the summer.
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
