Scarifying first timer

Hello

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice please. 

I've read you should scarify (then aerate and seed etc) your lawn in September when it's healthy and actively growing. Mine isn't really growing. It's brown, very dry and straw like. There's been very little rain here for weeks. It's due to rain next week. I'm whether to do it now or later in the month after its had a bit of rain?

Any advice welcome please?

I'd wait for some rain, then wait a few days for the grass to recover a bit.
Same here - no rain in many weeks and grass all brown.
I usually wait until early part of October to scarify, but the last 2 years, we got almost no rain, so I haven't been able to scarify for a couple of years - at least it's too dry for moss to grow - silver linings etc..

Do it now and use a sprinkler daily. Wait much longer and it'll get too cool.
