Should I be pleased with these guys?

I have had these creatures living in walls and pots and in the compost heap.  I noticed them a few years ago and for a number of years, I left them alone.  Last year I cleared out the pot with Calla Lillies in, and there was just shy of 40 of these things snuggling away in the dark.

Numbers seem to be increasing, and while I tend to be quite relaxed about wildlife these guys are multiplying.

What are they, should I be bothered by them?

If they have no legs they’re vine weevil grubs and I would feed them to the chickens or put them on the bird table.

If they have legs they’re more likely to be the grubs of one of the chafers or beetles and while they may do a little damage I’m happy to leave them be 😊
