New(ish) lawn from turf one year ago

When the guy laid my lawn last year he told me not to feed it until autumn and then just put some lawn sand on it at the recommended spread. The lawn looks great, but having read in other locations about using lawn sand I haven't seen anywhere that recommends using it in Autumn. What should I do, follow his advice or use some specific autumn lawn feed?

    Pop into your local garden centre and get some Autumn Lawn Care.
    A good centre will have knowledgeable  staff to help you.
