We picked our first three punnets of wild blackberries at the bottom of our field yesterday. Great fun, and they're super delicious. Very satisfying.

    😊 👍
They freeze very well ... just as they are in lidded plastic boxes or open freeze in trays the freeze in bags so you can pour out as many or as few as you like.

Thanks for the advice. Will definitely go pick a stack more then - and get lacerated again.

Our neighbours pull tonnes of apples each year, so apple and blackberry pie will definitely be on the dessert menu.

I have to put them in salt water first, I hate the thought of eating the maggots, as a child thought nothing of picking and eating them.

OK - I'll bite. Why are there maggots in blackberries?
