This plant has appeared in my garden, can anyone identify it for me?

    It’s a hellebore.

Maybe a cultivated variety or maybe the wild version, Helleborus foetidus.

Either way, a nice free gift.
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.

We've had quite a few threads with people getting some hellebore presents recently  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Helleborus argutifolius… [argutifolius = sharp toothed leaves]...

...seeds around a lot...quite architectural with yellow/green flower spikes...  dead head them if you don't want the future seeding...
  • Thank you that’s great.
