It’s a hellebore.
Maybe a cultivated variety or maybe the wild version, Helleborus foetidus.
Either way, a nice free gift.
Apophthegm - a big word for a small thought.

We've had quite a few threads with people getting some hellebore presents recently
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Helleborus argutifolius… [argutifolius = sharp toothed leaves]...
...seeds around a lot...quite architectural with yellow/green flower spikes... dead head them if you don't want the future seeding...
