Hebes
in Plants
i have inherited a garden with quite a few Hebes that although not very tall they have become very wide. I believe it’s not a good idea to prune them although I did take away some growth from underneath and new growth is showing. My question is do I cut right back to the new growth or would that be too much?

Sometimes you can prune them back quite hard and they recover, and sometimes they don't. It's often a 'cross your fingers' situation
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
