Rhododendron 'Town heat' flowering query

BijdezeeBijdezee Posts: 1,484
I bought this dwarf rhododendron in April in bud. It flowered well and for quite a long time too. I repotted it in ericaceous with some suitable fertilizer.

It has done well since and has new growth and now what looks like flower buds too. Having no experience with this plant I'm wondering if those flower buds will stay over winter and open in spring or if it is trying to flower now (doubtful as it's the wrong season).

  • Yes these are the buds for next year's flowering. And they look a very good size too. A frequent mistake people make is not to keep them well watered through the summer when they set those buds and then they flower not that strongly the next year. It looks like you'll have another great show ahead, enjoy.
