Have just bought 50 ranunculus bulbs. I thought I would just plant them out in October in the ground for next year. But on looking up advice see that most people say plant in pots. Can anyone advise pls. Thanks

I got them to start growing but they never flowered , then left outside in pots over a mild winter they rotted off.
