Good afternoon all - hope you've all had a good summer break.

I have this flower (?) just coming into bloom now. The head looks like broccoli and the leaves vaguely holly like. It stands about 18 inches tall and the flower heads are up to 3 inches across. Just when I thought the garden was dying off this is appearing - obviously all well planned by my wife!

It's a Sedum [iceplant] - great for bess and hoverflies at this time of year  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

@Fairygirl Thank you....I've looked it up on the RHS site and it looks like ours has a fair way still to go with the flowers. Again, I've probably never noticed the flower before as it would typically  be behind a garden bench.

Yes, "looks like broccoli" but do not try to eat them. :D

You are invited to a virtual visit of my garden (in English or in French).

The flowers are very small - there are some opened ones in your pic - but the heads carry a huge number  :)
I'd argue that they might taste better than some vairieties of broccoli @Papi Jo ;)

    Don't eat them though!

....oddly, last night I cooked broccoli in a pressure cooker (I do it all the time), had a senior moment and only cooked it for 4 minutes. Needed a chainsaw. Luckily, the red wine gravy was very heavy on the red wine and the garlic mash was more garlic than potato. So next time I may try 'sedum au gratin' just for the halibut.
