Hellebores flowering early

I have lots of hellebores that arrive in winter, but the attached had already flowered. Is this normal?

  • I don't know which area you are in @westcliff53 but it certainly is unusual to see a Hellebore in flower so early/late?  Mine begin to flower more towards December - Feb time.  How old are the plants - were they planted this year - originally grown from seed or pot grown?
  • Hi,  I live in North Hampshire  near  to Dummer. My rear garden faces North but gets a lot of sunshine in Summer. They were all planted as young plants last October and flowered in December. This is the only one that has flowered again so early.
Do you think I should ask Monty why this has happened?
    Thanks for your input.
    Regards
    Pauline

Years ago I bought my very first Hellebore, in flower, in October.

Some of mine have flowered through summer, and off and on at other times too.
Doesn't stop them flowering at the 'usual' time though.

Looks nice and happy and healthy anyway @westcliff53  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Mine flower none stop, they’re just dying off now.  They’ll be back in the early spring.

  • Thanks for replying. Yours look lovely.
  • My Hellebores live by the book here - I only cut some of the old flowers off a month or two back - and no sign of any coming into flower again just yet. Your flowers do look lovely @Lyn
  • Mine have been flowering for awhile. It's probably climate change.
