Have you gto a wider view of it @tony williams2? It's most likely weather related - probably very dried out, if it's under a tree. The tree will be nicking most of the available moisture from the ground.

I wouldn't worry unduly, but without any further info, it's difficult to offer any more advice. If it's been very hot/sunny at the wrong time [ ie when new, soft growth appears] it could have frazzled them. Wind will also do that
