Garden pinks

please could you help all my garden pinks in bud but all eaten from the inside hence not a flower

    Hi @hilarybabb9 - whata shame. It's always disappointing when you lose buds on anything. I wonder if it could be Earwigs?
    Any other damage to them?
    If you can do a pic, that would help with advice too  :)

  • Hi thanks but not earwigs can’t get photo cut them all off did see a tiny black like worm but very tiny so not sure what it is ☹️

    I'd guess it's an insect of some kind, but I've never had any problems with dianthus, so I can't think of what it would be. 
     If there's no other damage to the plants, it's most likely to be a sap sucking insect/beetle  of some kind.
    If you take a look at the RHS site, it may give some indications of possible pests/diseases, and you can take it from there.

  • Ok thank you I had a look and sounds like it but does not tell you how to prevent it may be a mothball in pots 😀

    You would have to keep an eye out for the caterpillars, and just remove those  :)
