Lavender standard

Hello Gardeners! I have googled for advice on how much pruning I should do on this plant which, as can be seen, has a lot of dead sections on the branches near its trunk. Can anyone please advise?

Be mindful not to prune too far back into the main stem, they may not rejuvenate. Lavenders get more woody when they mature. Your one looks like Dentata form and not really hardy at all, so if you live in an area where there is frost in the winter time, consider protecting pot and whole plant with fleece or keeping up against a southerly wall.

Looking at your plant, I would just snip some of the dying leaves back, which tend to be around the bottom section, but avoid cutting back the top growth, that will harden in time for winter and help protect the rest of your plant.

Thank you for the advice which is very helpful particularly as the temptation is to go crazy and cut off many of the dead-looking branches but I will now be more careful!
