Plumb tree

My daughter’s large plumb tree has a good crop this year however it has been decimated by wasps, any tips to prevent this next year.

  • Not easily I’m afraid. Usual advice is to pick the fruit early before it’s fully ripe and make sure you pick up any that fall to the ground. Insect mesh might work but tricky if anything other than a small tree.  Hanging a false wasp nest nearby is said to deter them - think they are called waspinator?

  • Thanks Butterfly66, Haven’t heard of a waspinator so going to google it ready for next year, with luck we will be enjoying plumb pies and jam!
