My garden is suddenly overrun by this plant. It's everywhere, in every pot and bed. I've not seen any such thing anywhere for the seven years I've had my garden, which seems like it might be intentional. Any thoughts please.

Thanks George. I think it must be something that flowered for the first year in my garden. I'm wondering about valerian off. I think all the summer rain has helped all sorts of seeds germinate that would normally have died away. It's either that or some odd thing surviving in compost or manure. But as every surface is covered in the one plant, I think it more likely something new that bloomed close by in the spring.

    Not valerian 😊

Could it be one of those low-growing but very spready campanulas with the long unpronounceable names?
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Just by the astonishing amount of it, I doubt it would be a campanula, though it would be great if it is. Valerian officianalis is the only thing I can come up with for now. I guess it  the puzzle will become clearer in a few months.
