When to prune? Pelargoniums

I’ve got a couple of pelargoniums I keep on my window sill they’re a bit “leggy” although have flowered on and off for a while now. Should I prune them to make them a but more compact? And if yes when is the best time of year?

It depends a bit on the variety as some are naturally more leggy than others.

    I would probably cut them
back in the early spring ... using the pieces you remove as cuttings to grow more plants.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

If I bring pelargoniums in for the winter, I cut them right back and so far it hasn't affected them badly. If a plant is looking tatty, I don't wait for months to sort it out but as Dove says, it depends on the variety.
