Helenium wrong colour?

RoddersUKRoddersUK Posts: 455
I bought a red helenium, but it's very yellow. Will it turn red? With the word Autumnal, perhaps it hints it will change later in the year?

This happened to me, with some l purchased from Secret Garden Club,  they were labelled red but some yellow ones came up in the middle of the clump. An error in propagating l think.
They won't change colour as far as l know !

That possibly because they are hybrids and not a named variety , any helenium with autumnale is a hybrid, it could just be a rogue seedling or cross pollinated with the wrong plant .

If you want a certain colour get a named variety . It unlikely they will turn red as well but you never know .

The short answer is NO, it won't change colour.

    Thanks all.

I like yellow, but I wanted red where it is, lol. Oh well, is what it is.

Could be that it is ………. an opportunity to buy a new red plant whilst moving a yellow one elsewhere.

Later in the year I'm having a shuffle around. I'll see what happens then and what spaces I have
