It is the rather invasive Houttuynia cordata, also known as fish mint, fish leaf, rainbow plant, chameleon plant, heart leaf, fish wort, Chinese lizard tail, or bishop's weed,
If leaves variegated then it is.....Houttuynia cordata ‘Chameleon’
My question is what is this. It has been in my garden since before Christmas and I have have no idea what it is.
It is about 4ft high. It has been looking like a weed for the last 8 months until it bloomed. It is a very odd looking plant. Its like an ordinary very small marigold on a very tall, oddly shaped stem.
I think they look more like Heleniums, Sneezeweed from that photo. Helenium petal tips tend to be more blunt and rounded, whilst Gallardias tend to have more pointed tips around the edges.
Right that looks a bit more like what I have been looking after for the last 9 months The height sounds about right. Mine have odd pieces of odd green flanges of green plant material, all the up the stems. I will pop out and see what mine looks like.
Yes that looks good. Well I only dug up three of them thinking they were weeds . They are really rather nice. Thanks for your help here folkes.
