Tree identification

Hi everyone.  I wanted to have a tropical feel in my Northern garden and in 2016 after watching an episode of gardeners world, one man was talking us through his tropical garden.  He mentioned this tree and I decided to try to grow one.  I bought 1 seed off eBay and managed to grow it and I love it.  But I cannot remember what it is called. The new growth starts off as black dead looking bits but then keeps growing healthily. It has got so big now I wanted to research if I don't have to over winter it anymore. So I'm hoping one of you forum readers could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Thank you

I cannot be sure but it might be a young Carica papaya ...common name pawpaw.
I have only seen mature adult plants not baby /immature ones.
    Leaves are extremely varied.

    Perthshire. SCOTLAND .
  • Thanks silver surfer, it certainly looks very similar, I'll try to do some research on the papaya. I'm amazed I managed to grow what ever it is !

Not much help now but EBay keeps a record of your purchases but 2017 is as far back as they go
