    Same. I top dress with fresh soil in the spring and they seem to do well enough. Feeding will probably give them too much growth and encourage aphids. You could add a small amount of slow release granules to the top dress though I suppose.

    Mine are all in pots and have a chipped bark mulch to help retain moisture between waterings.   I give them a handful or so of pelleted chicken manure in spring and it gets washed thru gradually when watering.

    I remove a layer of soil in spring and replace it with fresh to which I add a small amount of Osmacote. I top dress with bark, currently orchid compost because I have loads. Aphids have vever been a problem, so far. The worst pests were deer which ate all the lower growth! (It has since grown back and the trees are a lovely shape as a result!)
