A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Teasel.  A weed for most people but, if you have the space and the inclination, it's good for wldlife and supposed to be a favourite of birds like bullfinch, or maybe goldfinch.  Never was any tho when I grew it and it self-seeded all over the place.

Oh ok great It’s in my wildflower section of the garden mostly, so I think I will let a few grow on, plus I often have goldfinches visiting the garden.

I planted teasel seeds to get the Goldfinches and they came and ate the seeds and for the last 5 years I've had about 8 goldfinches feeding in the garden all year round. They are a delight to watch and funny as they bicker with each other !

Teasels can also be used for dried flower arrangements. When they get dusty you can always hang them outside for the birds. (They wont mind a bit of dust!)
