Does anyone have any idea how long they remain viable? I collected some about 5 years ago, but never got round to sowing them. Any point now? ( or next Spring )

A general guide (there are exceptions) is, the smaller the seed, the longer it remains viable.  Why not sow them, you've nothing to lose.

    Indeed so.
I have visions of a forest of Paulownias providing firewood in years to come.

How mature is your seeding tree?

Also note the seedlings grow very fast indeed.  Don't start too early next year wait until April when more light is available.

my daughter grew it from seed about 10 years ago, I planted it in a 40 gallon container as I have no garden, its about 10 ft tall and this year was the 2nd time it has flowered, I have managed to get one cutting growing this year , it has a lot of lower branches that I want to cut off but I think I am scared to do it,  ?? I have been told seeds are better option than cuttings, one lady told me to tie paper bags around the clusters, but its getting too them to do it,
