Leaf recognition please?

Had this tree come up through my fence last year it’s grown a good bit but I have no idea what it is, no flower or anything other than leaves so far.

It may well be bird-cherry where a bird has dropped a cherry stone which has germinated. I've no idea if it'll ever produce fruit. Most people pull them out as it'll grow into a big tree, but see what others think

Do, or did, you neighbours have a deutzia?   Could be suckers from that rather than a tree as its habit is more bush like than tree like.
  • No he planted in his but come up in ours but not there now to ask.  Not sure if to leave or cut down .
    thankyou for replies .
  • Has quite thick trunk?

It's obviously going to ruin that fence. Should have been pulled out immediately upon appearing (on either side of the fence). ;)

  • I asked for recognition not advice on the fence thankyou

Yes, that’s not a bush!   I would say a wild cherry, prunus avium, rather than a bird cherry.   Either way it grows to 50-60ft.....
  • Ok Helix thankyou very much. I will deal with it, was hoping it was something worth keeping as hate to cut down tree but it’s quite close to the house . Thanks again
