Plum tree mystery!

We have a 15 year old Victoria plum tree. Hardly any plums this year, but foliage is very vigorous.  Over the last week the leaves have been covered by a LOT of wasps, just walking along the leaves as far as we can see, no interest in the plums themselves. We are curious to know why they are doing this. Does anyone know?

Your tree may be suffering from plum aphid.  It's a bit late in the year for this - but every year around June/July wasps queue up to collect aphids from my Victoria plum, to feed to their offspring.   :)
