Dahlia Query
I bought some dahlia bulbs from an online site earlier this year. I was too late to bring them on in the greenhouse so planted 5 directly in the ground and 3 in pots. The three in a pot have been great (see photo) but sadly of the 5 in the ground only one has grown, the others have all tried but been eaten by what I’m assuming is slugs and snails before they got established, despite try a variety of protective measures.
I’ve lifted the tubers today and all are firm with some new shoots attached but I’m now wondering what’s best to do to try and overwinter until next season? Will definitely be bringing them on in pots next year - lesson learned 😀 I’d be grateful for you advice please.
