Rusted hypericum

CopperdogCopperdog Posts: 546
i have a badly rusted hypericum in the bed that I have left and now I’m wondering if I should have done something with it sooner? Do I need to take the whole plant out? Will it spread to the others in that bed or shall I do nothing and just prune to 6/8 inches next year as usual? Many thanks

Thanks Hostafan.  What course of action do I need to take?  does it spread or is it an annual thing that won't trouble it next year?  Or is the rust killing it?

    more unsightly than anything else.
If you like the plant, stick with it, but if you find the rust too unatractive, lose it and replace with something better.

I love hypericums it’s one of my favourite shrubs in the garden, love the colourful berries 😊 what would you suggest planting if I carry on with problems with them? Xx
