What to do with this rambling rose?

This rose was in the garden when we moved in last year. We cut it right back and weedkilled it. Now it’s come back like this. I’ve decided now that I’d like to keep it but keep it under control. It’s growing very bushily as you can see. How best do I control
it? Should I cut out some of the stems? If so, how many and when? How do I keep it under control and get the best of it? It’s looking like a suckering shrub right now. Any help would be appreciated.
