Bird poo fertiliser?

OK, so I have a new David Austin climbing rose positioned under a popular bird perch in my garden, with the result that the rose gets covered in bird poo. My question is, will it do any harm, or might it even be of benefit over the long term?

I doubt it will do much more than be unsightly. For ordure to be useful, it has to mature otherwise it can be damaging to plants but I doubt the birds will be producing enough to change the soil composition.
