Is this dahlia ‘Jescot Julie’?

SammymummySammymummy Posts: 198
Hi everyone
Do you think this is Jescot Julie? I had one two years ago which I loved, but it didn’t survive winter. So I bought another this spring but the flowers look different.

Many thanks for for your help x

That’s my SIL’s favourite dahlia, but I’m sure hers was more of a pinky orange...

It seems they can be pretty variable. I was looking at another dahlia recently and it had been withdrawn from sale by the online seller as the stock needed to be  ‘cleaned up’ as rogue genes had infiltrated the tubers. Made me smile, sounded like a James Bond plot!

I thought it was more "pinky" than that. Out of curiosity,  l googled it, and some of the images look completely different. The one l had looked more like this shade

Here are a couple of mine. I think the petals are more pointy that your photo shows, @Sammymummy

Thank you all, so mine’s definitely not Jescot Julie 😕 I will email the seller.

So annoying when that happens, you spend all that time after planting and tending the tubers, excited to see the first flower, then it turns out to be not what it said on the tin! Fortunately for me, the wrong dahlia turned out lovely and still fitted with my border colour scheme.

Good luck with your complaint to your supplier.

  • This happened to me; all the plants I bought in Homebase were mis-labelled so I took photos and took the pots back to the store and they gave me a full refund. They didn’t seem that surprised !!

I shouldn’t be too surprised then. At least they have given me a refund and I shall try my luck again next year.
