Acer in a pot completely dried out

Hi whilst on holiday my 7 year old Acer Palatium unfortunately dried out all the leaves are brown. Should I leave till next year, watering. Or should I prune?

I would leave it but keep on top of the watering.

Put it somewhere cool and shady. Keep it moist and fingers crossed, it should be better next year. The newer growth from this year might not survive but any die back can be trimmed off next summer when you can see clearly where it is. Don't prune now as it has been through enough for the time being.

Is it in a container? If yes, immerse it in water until the bubbles stop. I'd even put it in the bath if I didn't have anything else big enough😊
